“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind...” (Romans 12:2)ISN’T IT STRIKING THAT ST. PAUL appeals not to our hearts but to our minds to resist the influence of the world? To go against the tide, to swim upstream, we begin at the “top floor”, so to speak. Ideas change the world. Sadly, the plain truth is that the Pilgrim People of God are bombarded with ideas contradictory to the Gospel. Whether it’s the TV, radio, newspapers or the Internet there’s a lot of talking going on and not a lot of it is Christian. There is a war going on and a key arena is the mind. The outcome of this conflict may well decide whether we stand with the sheep or goats on Judgement Day (cf. Matt 25). After all, if we think no differently from the world then it naturally follows that we will act no differently. Ideas engender attitudes. Deeds arise from attitudes. To proclaim the Gospel and build a civilisation of love, we must therefore begin with changing the way we think. We have been blessed with the technological marvel called the Internet. With this, we can hear and amplify the voice of the Spirit speaking through you and I. Through it, we can reach out to each other and affirm each other in Christ.
